Sprinter Will Batley commits to the University of Georgia

ree

We are proud to announce that Ottawa sprinter Will Batley is headed to the SEC and has committed to the University of Georgia, where he will continue his athletic and academic journey beginning in January 2026. The fit makes sense and has been Will's dream since grade 9.

Batley was on a ridiculous upward trajectory over the 2024 High school season, winning the Sr 200m and placing second in the 100m. That summer, an injury prevented him from competing on the national stage and some lost faith in him.

Will knew what his goal was and with the support of his Coach Lynden George, his strength and conditioning team, and his parents whose belief never wavered, Will mounted a comeback and smashed his Personal Best in the 200m, becoming the Canada Games Champion. The confidence was back, the schools came looking, and Will vowed that this was just the beginning.

On the track, Batley brings versatility across the short sprints and untapped potential in the 400m. His acceleration is SEC ready, and Georgia's program is known for sharpening top-end mechanics and race execution. Off the track, Batley is known for being grounded, disciplined, and obsessed with improvement. This mindset will translate well in Athens.

With this commitment, Georgia adds another high-ceiling athlete to its roster, and Batley steps into one of the most competitive environments in collegiate track and field. Canadian track fans should be excited and keep an eye on what he does next.
